Hi! Shall we get to know each other a little?

Usually, this part of a website is the most boring and is read the least.
It's usually the case that if you like something, you simply buy it.

But we think it's important that you, if you want to, have the opportunity to know.
a little more about us.

Here we tell our story, about the project, our values and how we work.

About the project

How it all started

ArtArctic is an online store that brings together several of our projects: sales of clothing under the ArcticPeople-Design brand, as well as interior items and art.

ArcticPeople-Design is in turn part of a larger project that originated in Svalbard in 2021.
Everyone in our small team met when we lived and worked there, in the heart of the Arctic.

Originally, ArcticPeople-Design was supposed to make textile products as souvenirs for tourists.
But in 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, we put the tourism project on hold. At the same time, we continued to sew comfortable, beautiful and durable clothes that were bought by both the local population in Longyearbyen and tourists from all over the world. Like many other projects, ours also has a prehistory. If you are curious to know how it all really started and why we opened the sewing studio, you can read more about it in our blog.

For the first six months, our sewing workshop was located at the Arts Center in Longyearbyen. We sewed sweaters with appliqués and embroidery, hats, neck warmers, and overalls in cotton for active people and tourists.

After several years in Svalbard, we decided to move a little further south, to the northernmost mainland municipality in Norway, and we are now staying in Mehamn, a fishing village on the Barents Sea.
A year later, we restarted the sewing studio, this time with more equipment and new ideas. We purchased high-quality European equipment for T-shirt printing (DTF), created our own design collections, and began working more with art and interior design.
What connects us is our love for Northern Norway and the Arctic. Through design, we want to convey this love and atmosphere to all who share our fascination for the north, nature, and Norway.

Up to the fall of 2025, we had sewn around 750 sweaters and hooded sweaters, approximately 1000 hats, buffs and headbands, and printed about 800 T-shirts. That's not much on a global scale, but for us it means that over 2500 customers have taken warm memories and warm clothes from the north to all corners of Norway and the world.

About the production

We run a small sewing workshop with a full production cycle, and can therefore follow each step ourselves and ensure quality. We have professional sewing machines, embroidery machines and a European DTF printer with all the necessary equipment for printing on textiles.
We also have a small showroom where we display and sell our products.
The windows in our sewing room face directly out towards a bay in the Barents Sea, just 20 meters away. The view gives us daily inspiration.

Values and principles for our work

We believe that this section is the most important page for
For us, this is more than just a sewing room. It's a life's work – something we love, as
is a part of our lives and of ourselves. Therefore, our work is built on some
fundamental values:

Attachment to the place we live

We are not just a workshop, but a reflection of Finnmark, Norway and the Arctic, of nature,
the culture and the people here in the north.

Each of our
Norwegian design is a declaration of love for the north: the choice of colors, fabrics, embroidery.
and the motives stem from a love for this place.

Individualism

Globalization and mass production take away the personal touch. People buy things from AliExpress, Temu,
Norwegian Alibaba without knowing what it actually is, where it comes from, or who...
is behind it. People stop appreciating craftsmanship and individuality.

We don't want it like that.
have it. We want each customer to find their own favorite, a unique thing that
suits everyone. We not only offer a wide selection of our designs, but
also help with creating something entirely your own. Clothes are more than just garments – they express who
You are. Be yourself. Stand out. Show your personality.

Quality

Quality is not just a slogan for us, it's one of our core principles. The world has become accustomed to
fed up with mass production from China, Bangladesh and Pakistan, but we believe in
craftsmanship, family production and genuine materials. We only use fabrics and
accessories from European suppliers,

mainly from Poland, Sweden and Norway. All printing and DTF equipment comes from
EU (Germany, Netherlands, Croatia).

We can't change the world, but we want to make it a little better by preserving the spirit of craftsmanship, following
taking every step ourselves and putting our soul into making something that will bring joy to the owner for a long time.
Quality and warmth.

Environmental friendliness and responsibility

We use as many natural materials as possible, and this applies to textiles, design elements and accessories. Cotton is the most important raw material in our products, and we avoid synthetic materials.
Our machines have energy-saving servo motors, and we try to take advantage of that.
The fabric is used to the maximum extent to minimize waste. The leftover fabric is often used in new designs.
or small products.
With DTF printing, we optimize production to reduce waste.
We use recycled packaging and environmentally friendly consumables.

This is not just
These are fine words for us, it's our way of working and living.

Sustainability and social responsibility

We could have chosen easier paths – ordered everything from China and just written "Norwegian design". Almost.
everyone does it. However, it is important for us to produce everything ourselves here, in
Finnmark. We want to create
create jobs locally and contribute to a vibrant community. We support local initiatives,
helps out voluntarily, drives
Tourist information center in Mehamn and member of Visit Nordkyn.

We believe that clothing and design can be part of the marketing of Northern Norway as
destination.
